PREPARATION requires two phytoplankton filters to prepare for phytoplankton testing. It involves concentrating the cells with 0.1µm mesh and transferring the cells with a small spatula to the phyto solution. |

THE JELLETT RAPID SAMPLE PREPARATION METHOD is simpler than the AOAC extraction method for field use, and requires no boiling of the sample. This method has been found to be as effective as the AOAC method with California mussels and Alaskan clams. Validation with other tissue types is ongoing. |

THE METHANOL SAMPLE PREPARATION METHOD FOR ASP is a scaled-down version of the extraction method used in the regulatory laboratory, with a 10g sub-sample of 100g of shellfish puree. Use this method if you intend to send extract sample to the regulatory laboratory for parallel HPLC testing, or if you want to store the sample for later (>2wks) testing. |

THE
Mini AOAC® SAMPLE PREPARATION METHOD is a scaled-down version of the extraction method used in regulatory laboratories, based on a 10g sub sample from 100g of shellfish puree. This “Mini AOAC Method” was validated by Jellett Biotek Ltd. (Toxicon 40 [2002] 1407-1425) and has been shown to be equally as effective as the full 100g regulatory extraction method. |
