EXTRACTIONS
- If you want to send some of your samples for parallel
regulatory testing, use the scaled down regulatory sample preparation methods:
the MINI AOAC METHOD FOR PSP & the
METHANOL METHOD FOR ASP
The MINI AOAC METHOD, although more complex, can also be used to test for either ASP or PSP from
the same sample. This extract can also be used directly for the mouse bioassay test.
If you do not require testing of your samples by the regulatory lab, use the
JELLETT RAPID EXTRACTION METHOD it is simpler for field use, and one extract can be tested
on both the Jellett Rapid Tests for PSP and ASP.
For storage of samples for retesting at a later date, the most stable methods are the mini AOAC method
for PSP (store refrigerated) and the methanol method for ASP. ASP toxins are not stable for more than a few
days in the mini AOAC or the Rapid Extraction Method.
